After completing it’s festival run and picking up a surprising (but, of course, appropriate) amount of recognition, the movie I shot a little while ago for Jeff Kaplan and Ian Spring comes out next week. As in the trend with indie films, it will be released on VOD as well as theatrically, so you should be able to find it on Hulu, X-Box, PS3, Amazon, Itunes, etc..etc…

Fortunately, I had already conquered my fear of nude models; but I had to pretend that I didn’t mind having snakes right next to the lens for this video for Depeche Mode’s “Soothe My Soul.” Shot with the EPIC monochrome.

The Panthers had a sort of mixed season, so there’s no reason to be hard on Cam Newton, but we ended up doing so many takes (and rolling out a wall of HMIs to replace the sun) that they made another 90 second commercial from just a few of the outtakes. Well, I am back from Ottawa, Ontario after wrapping up the principal photography of next year’s very disturbing horror movie CLOWN, with Jon Watts helming for Eli Roth. I think this is going to be one to see if you like thrillers / horror movies…and one definitely to avoid if you’re my mom. And I think there is nothing like shooting a movie to make you yearn for commercial shoots. So, I’m pretty excited to get back to the short form in the new year.
Also, yet again this year, the Samsung billboard in Times Square will be displaying some holiday campaigns that I shot, so I guess look up and enjoy while you’re being shoved and jostled through crowds of Times Square tourists.

Here’s another spot I shot for Saturday Night Live this past week. Daniel Craig is very good at tying a bow-tie. Is that because he’s James Bond, or because it’s commonplace for all British men?
Our little movie that could, Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship keeps collecting recognition. Apparently hipsters love it most… as it has won best picture in London and Hoboken, and now Best Cinematography at Willie Fest 2012. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be there to receive it but I imagine the gold statuette is wearing a faded unicorn t-shirt, thick rimmed glasses and an unamused scowl.
Well, it’s been a busy few months with recent commercial shoots for Verizon in New York, a whole bunch of spots for Meijer stores in Chicago and a Toys R Us campaign that we shot in LA… which it sounds like you’ll not be able to get away from. I also squeezed in a pilot or two, and a few underwater shots for DP / friend Gordon Arkenberg’s most recent feature “Beneath.” But among the most recent to air have been some celebrity laden promos for the MTV Movie Awards as well as the MTV Video Music Awards with Pink, Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys.
Take the next week and catch up with any episodes of HBO’s “Girls” that you might have missed so that you’re fully up to speed when the episodes that I shot air next Sunday, May 27th and the following week, June 3rd. They are directed by a very talented DP himself, Jody Lee Lipes.
A feature that I shot last summer for my Waverly-associated pals, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, just won “Best International Feature Film” at the London Independent Film Festival. It’s New Year’s Eve again, and while I highly discourage it…if you happen to be spending the day waiting in a secured holding pen in Times Square, you can pass the time watching the Samsung billboard where the “Wondercubes” campaign that I shot continue it’s flickering, briefly interrupted by some holiday wishes from Samsung, which we also shot just recently.
Then, look southbound and watch for the VH1 Mob Wives promos that are appearing elsewhere on a giant LCD screen.
